Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

NXT Year-End Awards

I do not have a specific source for the overall competitor of the year nominees but, the shows that the winners were announced in the nominees video packages before they announce the winner it only shows the winners of the male and female competitors of the year as nominees in them except the first year's where all were still nominated.I Am Awesome 061796 (talk) 02:15, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

@I Am Awesome 061796: I'll admit that I haven't seen the videos, but I think they're all still technically nominated just as their website lists. In the end they decide between the winners of the Male/Female categories because everyone else has been eliminated. It's definitely a weird situation, and I can understand both perspectives. Prefall 02:30, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
@Prefall: Thank you for understanding and I will not edit further on the subject until or if I can find a reliable source like the video or something else. It's just that I created the page almost 3 years ago and it has always looked like it and I figured why change it. However, I will not edit it further until I find a source or just leave it alone.I Am Awesome 061796 (talk) 02:40, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

You reverted an edit that added WP:USERGENERATED web votes to the article Home Alone (franchise).

The same editor has repeatedly made those same edits again and (as has happened before) is claiming that it is acceptable to make exceptions but is unwilling to actually explain why an exception should be allowed. I would appreciate if you could check back on the article and revert if he tries again so it isn't just me doing it.

Feel free to add comments on the article talk page if you have any. -- 109.79.186.239 (talk) 02:37, 24 December 2019 (UTC)

The admin locked the article. I tried to explain that you reverted it first and that I only reverted after that but the admin seems to think the version with the IMDB scores was the STATUQUO version.
When you have time please add your comments at Talk:Home_Alone_(franchise)#WP:USERGENERATED_Audience_scores_not_allowed. -- 109.79.165.65 (talk) 19:42, 24 December 2019 (UTC)

CM Punk Featured article review

I have nominated CM Punk for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 19:25, 8 February 2020 (UTC)

Can you please build a "Still Flexin, Still Steppin" article?

I saw you built the article for "Artist 2.0" by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The new NBA YoungBoy album has been out for about two and a half weeks. It was the most streamed album of the week, and it charted 7 different songs onto the Hot 100. Yet it still hasn't gotten an article yet. Was wondering if you could do it. I would do it myself, but I basically don't know how.Nikki Lee 1999 (talk) 08:50, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Matt Reeves edit?

User: Prefall So, today, I edited the article Matt Reeves to insert his full name, Matthew George "Matt" Reeves when it was reverted for being a violation of WP:MIRROR. As far as I'm aware, I don't understand what is the issue here and I don't see how the edit "copied" Wikipedia. It was a simple edit in which I edited his name and added a citation, so I'm confused about that. I was wondering why this was the case and I would like more clarification. Thank you! -Dcdiehardfan (talk) 21:02, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

@Dcdiehardfan: Empire Online's profile of Matt Reeves was copied from the lead of his Wikipedia article at the time, as denoted at the end of said profile. Here is a January 2018 revision of Reeves' Wikipedia article that is an exact match, for confirmation. Per WP:MIRROR, "Copies of Wikipedia are not reliable sources and not acceptable external links in articles per the verifiability policy." Prefall 21:12, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
@Prefall: Ahh, I see the problem now. Thank you for letting me know. I will be sure to beware of this issue next time.

DC extented Universe

Why did you deleted my edits?? I added only reliable things and also changed the format (edited like MCU format). The Batman is an upcoming film and also a part of DCEU. If you have any doubts you can check it on the same page, CANCELLED AND REWORKED PROJECTS. There you will find this. New Batman film was announced in 2015, but the project was dropped and back in 2017, Matt Reeves was hired to direct the film, shooting started on January 2020 and wrapped on March 2021. The film is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on March 4, 2022. Re-add those things. 49.15.203.170 (talk) 12:23, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@49.15.203.170: The Batman is a standalone film set outside of the DCEU, as explained in the "Cancelled and reworked projects" entry. Prefall 12:29, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Amber Heard/Emilia Clarke as Mera Discussion

Hi,

I do apologize for the edits that I’ve made, but Amber Heard got fired from her role as Mera in the new and upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” (2023 movie) due to the Depp v. Heard trial, and is set to be replaced by “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke. Source: https://youtube.com/shorts/UgQRgywmYZ0?feature=share Ejmanalo616 (talk) 00:35, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Stop deleting the edits in The Flash

Please, stop deleting my edits in The Flash, i have a friend that works in WB and all that i've added is reliable. Thank you for reading 191.113.205.244 (talk) 22:19, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Prefall:, I saw your recent reversion and edit summary about long-term vandalism across at The Flash (film). There's [still] an AN/I case open on this user, though there's been little response to it. See: Disruptive editing by Chile-based dynamic IPs. Invitation

Hello Prefall!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Professional wrestling profiles

Hello Prefall - if you have the chance, could you lease take a look at template:Professional wrestling profiles as it applies to tag team and stables articles? I've attempted to use the template at The Acclaimed by inputting the reference numbers from the relevant website, but the links seems to be taking me to the wrong pages. McPhail (talk) 11:26, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

@McPhail: To explain how it works, the module first checks if the parameter "type" is defined (with "person", "team" or "stable"). If not, then it checks Wikidata for the "instance of" property. If a valid value is not found there either, then it defaults to "person" as the link type, which is what was happening here. I added "professional wrestling stable" to The Acclaimed's Wikidata page to fix this, though it may take time for the cached article to update. Prefall 11:44, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
@Prefall: That's great, thanks very much for fixing that and for the explanation - I'll keep this in mind for future. McPhail (talk) 14:23, 4 October 2023 (UTC)

Wrestling results table: main events

Hey,

One thing that comes to mind with {{Professional wrestling results table}} is that it might be a good idea to accommodate for cases where a show's main event has been announced as such. Take, for example, All In (2023): MJF vs. Adam Cole was the first match announced, and it was immediately announced as the main event, but we had to keep bumping it down the table by changing it from the first match on the card to the second, etc. In my mind, it might be more helpful if, in those circumstances, there was some sort of parameter that could keep that match in the last row as more matches are added.

However, because Lua makes my head spin, I wouldn't know how to incorporate that myself, so I'm asking you for advice instead. :) Sceptre (talk) 22:48, 2 November 2023 (UTC)

@Sceptre: It can be done, but my understanding is that future matches should be listed in the order they were announced (including the main event), in which case you would only have to move the main event match to the bottom once―after the event begins. Per WP:PW/SG, If the article is about a future event, this section is renamed Matches and includes planned matches and their stipulations in order of which they were announced. If this is still the consensus, I'm not sure these changes would be necessary. Prefall 23:27, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
